Naruto jumped forward as Sasuke’s voice suddenly sounded behind him. “S-SA—” Another scream came from the TV speakers, and he lept back onto the couch, clutching the cushions tightly and a fearful expression. Why, oh why, did he ever think this was a good idea. Just an hour ago, he was plopping down on the couch next to a finally convinced Sasuke in excitement for their horror movie marathon. But now… Now…

“Wai-wai-wait, Sasuke!” Naruto called after the other boy, reaching for his silhouette in the hallway and pausing the movie with his other hand. “Y-You can’t leave yet, dattebayo! We have to see what happens! We have to see if the shadow people are real! Th-There has to be some get-up they reveal at the end of the movie! Ghosts aren’t real!” Naruto let his arm all over the arm of the couch as he realized Sasuke wasn’t returning. There had to be some sort of explanation for the shadow people in the lady’s house. Ghosts weren’t real. They didn’t haunt people when they were alone in the dark, because they weren’t real…

Naruto was alone in the dark. “SASUKEEEEEEEEE~!” He bolted from the couch and sprinted through the hallway, crashing into the other boy in the bedroom doorway.

Sasuke stumbled forward, grunting as he caught himself on his hands before he could hit the floor face first. He straightened and blew his bangs out of his eyes before turning toward Naruto.

“Idiot. If there is such a thing as ghosts, it’s not like they’re suddenly going to start haunting you just because you watched a movie! Don’t be a child,” he snapped.

Letting out a sigh, he pushed past Naruto and made his way back into the living room. Agreeing to watch a horror movie with Naruto had been a bad idea; for all the man’s bravery on the battlefield, he was a complete wuss when it came to the paranormal. Maybe it was the fact that he had lived under Orochimaru’s tutelage, and had seen things that most people could never even imagine, but the thought of some inhuman being lurking in the darkness didn’t frighten Sasuke. After all, the dead couldn’t be any more harmful than the living.

He shut off the TV - there was no way he was allowing Naruto to finish watching that movie - and headed back toward the bedroom, stopping abruptly when the wind began to howl outside. He pursed his lips and picked up his pace, slowing down as he entered the bedroom once again. More than likely a storm was on the way, and he wanted Naruto in bed and asleep before he got even more worked up.

Naruto sputtered incoherent syllables as Sasuke lectured him. He knew there was no such things as ghosts, but that didn’t stop him from being scared! He didn’t think they were really going to get him or anything; he was just scared that they were lurking in the dark corners of the room…

"SASUKE?!" Naruto realized the Uchiha had left the room, and he quickly entered a state of hysterics. Too afraid to venture into the dark hallway to follow Sasuke, and too afraid to remain in the bedroom alone, Naruto quickly hopped onto the bed and crawled to the head of it. Leaning his back against the head board so none of the shadow people could sneak up from behind him, his wide eyes darted around the room. Every nook of the room seemed to move eerily in the corner of his vision.

A sudden gust of wind flew by the window, and a light tapping could be heard from outside the apartment walls. “W— W— WAHH!” Naruto wrapped his arms and legs around his pillow as his gaze raced to the closed curtains. “S—” He tried to call out Sasuke’s name again, but he couldn’t make a noise. Behind the curtains, a lanky shadow dipped in front of the moonlight. It made its way across the pane, and, after a minute passed, it retraced its steps. Naruto was frozen, staring at the window. THERE. WAS. SOMETHING. OUT. THERE.

Sasuke stared at the TV screen, his vision blurring slightly as he tried to keep his focus. He stifled a yawn and rolled his eyes when the protagonist of the movie turned suddenly, dropping her flashlight and screaming in the process, and came face to face with the entity that had been haunting her home. Movies like this were so predictable - not scary in the least. And yet his grown roommate, a ninja who had faced death more than once, was whimpering at his side like a child. He smirked at the thought.

“Stop being a baby. There’s nothing scary about this.” He glanced at Naruto when he didn’t respond only to find that he was completely absorbed in the movie. His shoulders were tense and the grip he had on the arm of the couch could have been damaging if it had been a person he was grabbing. Shaking his head at Naruto’s dramatics, he stood up and walked around the couch until he was standing directly behind the other man.

“I’m going to bed now. Maybe you should come, too. I don’t need you keeping me up all night with your screams of terror,” he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Naruto jumped forward as Sasuke’s voice suddenly sounded behind him. “S-SA—” Another scream came from the TV speakers, and he lept back onto the couch, clutching the cushions tightly and a fearful expression. haru-no:

Leave it to Ino to propose some ridiculous scheme - it was just like their days in the Academy, except this time Sakura had to decline. ‘Right, Ino-pig! I’ll see you.’ Sakura walks out into the streets of Konoha, damn pleased with herself. The day is warm and the streets are half-filled as mothers flock to store fronts and children hound each other, weaving in and out of the crowds. Usually she would be out somewhere, or training with her teammates, or maybe Tsunade and Shizune. It’s actually been a while since she’s trained and so she marks it in her head to go with someone tomorrow or the day after.

Today though, she’s just made it out into the village square, a bag of some groceries in hand. Her legs sway as she walks, her mind thinking back to when they were younger. She smiles at memories of Sasuke and Naruto, their first missions, their first training sessions with Kakashi. She still wants to punch Naruto when he screams ‘Dattebayo!’ or something equally as stupid and when Ino calls her billboard brow or gets the attention of boys. Sakura can’t contain her temper. Heading home a bit early, she bumps into someone, a bit too absorbed in the idea of landing her fist into Naruto’s naïve and grinning face and catches onto their clothing as if to stop her fall.

"S-Sakura-chan?" Naruto grabbed her arms to steady his teammates as she teetered backwards. He had been walking home from a play date with Konohamaru… if play date was the right word for the shenanigans the two boys had been up to. Thinking of new ways to perfect his favorite jutsu, he had been strolling through the streets absent-minded, and bumped into his teammate.

"You okay, Sakura-chan? Man, what a coincidence running into you, dattebayo! It’s almost like fate!" He laughed with an obnoxious grin, rocking his head from right to left. Noticing the distant look on her face, his smile faded slightly. He looked down and noticed his hands still clutching her arms, and he quickly let go. With a flushed face, he took a step back and giggled nervously, rubbing his now sweaty palms on the back of his pants. "So, haha…. What… What are you up to… datte… bayo…?" His voice grew slurred and quiet as he battled through his anxiety.
